Wire flame spraying is a thermal spraying method that uses an oxy-acetylene combustion flame as the heat source, with wire as the spraying material.
Principle:
The heating and atomization of the spraying material are achieved using a flame spray gun. The gun introduces acetylene, oxygen, and compressed air through a venturi nozzle, where the acetylene and oxygen mix and create a combustion flame at the nozzle exit. The wire feed wheel continuously feeds the wire through the center of the nozzle into the flame, where it is heated and melted. Compressed air, directed through an air cap, forms a conical high-speed airflow, atomizing the molten wire into fine particles. Under the influence of the flame and high-speed airflow, the molten particles are sprayed onto the pretreated substrate surface to form a coating.
Coating and Process Technology Characteristics:
1. Coating Structure and Characteristics: The coating structure of wire flame spraying is a distinct layered structure, containing a considerable amount of porosity and tungsten oxide inclusions. The coating characteristics can vary depending on the spraying process and materials used.
2. Process Technology Characteristics: Oxy-acetylene wire flame spraying equipment is simple, easy to operate, and cost-effective, with a wide range of applications. Its main characteristics are as follows:
(1)Simple equipment, easy operation, low cost, and suitable for on-site repair work.
(2)A wide range of spraying materials; almost all metals that can be drawn into wire can be sprayed, and composite wires can also be sprayed.
(3)During the spraying process, minimal heat transfer to the substrate occurs, making it less prone to thermal deformation, and thick coatings can be applied.
