Corrosion and wear are significant issues threatening production in the petroleum and petrochemical industries. According to surveys, the direct economic losses caused by wear and corrosion in China's petroleum and petrochemical sectors amount to billions of yuan each year.
The corrosion and wear of facilities such as pipelines, storage tanks, and well casings in the petroleum industry have become increasingly severe as the development duration of oil and gas fields and the service life of equipment extend. Similarly, in the petrochemical industry, the refining of imported high-sulfur crude oil has exacerbated the corrosion problems faced by equipment. Therefore, the adverse effects of corrosion and wear on the safe and stable operation of equipment are becoming more prominent, highlighting the urgent need to enhance the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of extraction and processing equipment in the petroleum and petrochemical industries.
