Using supersonic flame spraying technology to apply carbide ceramic coatings on components such as wire drawing tower wheels, drawing machines, drawing wheels, wire reels, drawing cylinders, winding discs, and guides can achieve a surface hardness of HRo75, significantly surpassing the wear resistance of tool steel or cold hard cast iron. This process also allows these components to be made from ordinary steel or cast iron, reducing costs while extending service life.

During the drawing process, the reel enhances the pulling force, and the transfer of force between the reel and the wire relies on the friction between the outer surface of the reel and the wire. The reel experiences wear due to this friction. When the reel's surface contacts the wire, it endures high pressure from the wire's pulling force in a dry friction state with insufficient lubrication, along with a large amount of pulling heat generated by the wire. Therefore, the reel is a vulnerable component subjected to high temperatures and significant wear.

Surface wear on the reel directly impacts wire quality, with excessive wear leading to increased production costs and decreased efficiency. Based on the base material, reels can be categorized into cast iron, cast steel, low carbon steel, medium to high carbon forged steel, and medium carbon steel.
